Zhujiadian Village was once a place producing gold bricks for the imperial family, with several kilns in use till today. Through “micro-intervention”, a deserted brickyard was renovated into a museum with an exhibition hall, a DIY workshop and a coffee shop. The transparent tiles have preserved the appealing scene of sunlight pouring in through the cracks of the roof. All the components of the interior space are designed with modules that allows for mobility and replacement. A brick arch was built over the steel arch, reminding people of the history. A steel staircase at the entrance covers the old ramp to present the co-existence of the old and the new.
