Built in 1987, Wangfujing Grand Hotel, the predecessor of Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel, enjoys a panoramic view of the Forbidden City. Due to its outdated image, aging facilities and safety risks, the hotel is renovated with the preservation of valuable parts, as well as the demolition and reconstruction of the podium. The parking lot is reconstructed, where a courtyard club is built with respect for the urban context. The extension of floor slabs and the merging of hotel rooms have increased the area of a single hotel room for better experience. With a story height less than 3 meters, meticulous layout of pipelines has achieved appropriate net heights for both rooms and corridors.
