As an art center of Jiangxi, the cradle of “china”, the complex is designed with a reference to the classic lotus pattern of traditional porcelain. Each petal of the “lotus” houses a certain function: theater, concert hall, rehearse hall and arts gallery. Its urban design objectives included enlarging the Qingshan Lake Plaza it bordering by giving back an entrance square and enriching the urban space by its impressive curve feature. Enclosing the plaza, the ellipse “petals” provide a series public spaces between them, which could be divided or integrate to maximize the flexibility and future extension. A series of curvilinear walls not only create layered space effects, but also draw the dynamic sense into interior.
